Hurricane Maria Aftermath

16 10 2017

Recovery from Hurricane Maria has been a slow process. Our beloved west-end of the island took a hard hit from Maria on September 21, 2017. Electricity was lost,  and thus, our perishable food supplies. The building sustained some damage. Travel has been restricted. Communications are limited. But we are happy to report that our cooks, Board members and volunteers have (finally) been able to get back in and begin the process of restoration. We were able to get a generator donated so that we could store food again. So much left to do and so many people in need of food!

You can help by making a donation now via our “networkforgood” donation button.

Our finances were already stretched by the untimely passing of our chief fundraiser, Rev Rod Koopmans. The hurricane damage and needs of the people have made your help all the more urgently needed.

Director Rod Koopmans Passes Away

13 05 2017

Pastor Rod Koopmans, Director of My Brother’s Table, passed away suddenly on March 15, 2017. He had been instrumental in the mission and leadership of My Brothers Table for many years, as well as, the pastor at the Reformed Church on St Croix for almost 20 years. Before that he had been a pastor in Fishkill, New York, for 15 years, and a mission-pastor in the country of Oman.

Rod was a constant presence in the kitchen and around the tables of our mission. He will be greatly missed.
